Up for sale is a late 18th century Dutch marquetry inlay drop front, TABLE TOP secretary or commode desk, with a bombe serpentine front. This magnificent piece of antique furniture is made of walnut plus other woods in an intricate inlaid pattern of flowers and birds throughout, set on 2 front raised paw feet and 2 shaped block rear feet. To find this chiffonier or bureau in a table top form is very rare, easily qualifying as a museum piece.
The interior features 4 drawers, lined with pale blue cotton cloth, and 2 shelves in the top section and one large drawer beneath, similarly lined. The original period door handles are present as is the matching lock escutcheon. The original 4 brass pulls are on the interior drawers and 2 more on the pull out supports for the desk. The lock and hinges are original and intact, and the original key is present.
This is an exquisite piece of 18th century, skillfully made, exceptional, rare piece of furniture. It is in near perfect condition with only a slight scar to the top and a few age superficial age splits to the top of the drawer.
