This gorgeous piece was made in the mid 1990's by the Smithsonian Museum.
It has been in a box in storage its whole. The piece is literally brand new.
This is the original description from the Smithsonian Catalog:
"VENETIAN MARQUETRY CHEST. This elegant six drawer oval chest is crafted of
solid tulip and poplar woods with rich walnut veneers by master Italian wood workers.
Decorative marquetry of briarwood, firwood and padouk woods grace the drawers,
top and side panels.
. Marquetry furnishing are featured in the decorative arts collections
at our Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum." It also feature cabriole legs.
